Black Girls Code

In the fall of 2020, Black Girls Code — a non-profit providing technology education for girls — hosted a virtual hackathon. The hackathon titled Reimagining Black Futures was designed for girls between the ages of 12-17 and focused around the theme of Afrofuturism.

My Role

For the Reimagining Black Futures hackathon, Black Girls Code needed a logo and microsite. The hackathon theme of Afrofuturism needed to be represented in both of these assets. For the logo, I used existing visual elements from Black Girls Code branding to create a mark. Then I manipulated type to create characteristics seen throughout Afrofuturism design. The logo and imagery provided by Black Girls Code influenced the design of the microsite.
